Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis championed the cause of unity among diverse faiths, emphasising the shared values that bind humanity together. His historic meetings with leaders of various religions and spiritualities, including his groundbreaking visit to the United Arab Emirates and the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, H. E. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, stand as enduring symbols of his commitment to building bridges between communities.
Pope Francis often reminded the world of the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding as pathways to peace. In his own words: "Interreligious dialogue is a necessary condition for peace in the world, and so it is a duty for all believers, regardless of their faith tradition."
