Alessandro (Alex) Amicarelli, a member and director of Obaseki & Co Ltd - Obaseki Solicitors Law Firm in London - is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, and a barrister of Italy, specialising in International and Human Rights Law and Immigration and Refugee Law, dealing also with investments and sustainable development and international cooperation too.

In 2023 the National BAR of Italy Special Committee at the Ministry of Justice granted him higher rights of audience that give access to the highest jurisdictions including the Supreme Court of Cassation, the Financial Court, the Council of State and the Constitutional Court.

Having earned a doctorate on "International Order and Human Rights" from "La Sapienza" University of Rome, with a dissertation on the protection of religious freedom in International law, Dr. Amicarelli has a strong interest for minorities and religious freedom of both New Religious Movements and traditional minority religious and spiritual groups and of their members.

He has dedicated the last twenty years to issues related to the protection of freedom of religion and belief (FORB), the rights of refugees and displaced persons, and other human rights and immigration matters, representing clients internationally.

He has extensively lectured in human rights, and taught courses on the International Protection of Human Rights at the School of Law of "Carlo Bo", University of Urbino, Italy; he has contributed with articles published on legal reviews and on books, and has also taught a course on Human Rights, Minorities and Religious Freedom at Soochow University, Taiwan (ROC).

Atty. Amicarelli is a frequent speaker at academic and legal events and conferences and meetings held in different countries and at different places such as the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, the House of Lords in London, the United Nations Palace in Geneva, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Warsaw, the Senate of the United States of America in Washington DC and other venues too.

He is the current chairman and spokesman of the European Federation for Freedom of Belief (FOB).
